Because of Duran’s coolness under pressure Friday night, Orange has a shot at a share of the Century League’s basketball title. Duran scored 10 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter as the Panthers rallied to send the game against Canyon to overtime, and he made a 21-foot, three-point shot with two seconds left in the first overtime to ensure a second. With five seconds left in the second overtime, Duran made two free throws that gave Orange a 66-65 victory and moved it within two games of first-place El Modena with two games remaining. “The way he was shooting and the way he was on fire, there was no doubt he would put them down,” Orange Coach Richard Bossenmeyer said. “He’s responded to pressure in these last few games and that’s what we have been looking for from him all year long.” Earlier in the week, Duran scored 25 points in the Panthers’ 67-60 victory over Villa Park.

Martin Wall, who scored two goals for Brea-Olinda in a 2-2 tie with Anaheim and the winning goal in a 2-1 soccer victory over Magnolia.
