ROUNDUP : Capistrano Valley Christian 5-20 After Upset of Chadwick

Chuck Carlsen scored four of 12 points in the final three minutes as Capistrano Valley Christian improved to just 5-20 with a 43-40 upset of Chadwick in the Division V-AA boys’ basketball playoffs Friday night at Chadwick.

Chadwick finished 17-10.

Nathan Owens scored 14 points for Capistrano Valley Christian.

In other Division V-AA games:

Camp Kilpatrick 67, St. Margaret’s 63--Ryan Westendorf scored 33 points, but that didn’t prevent St. Margaret’s (15-7) from losing a tight game at home. Aaron Wright added 18 points for St. Margaret’s, which erased an 18-12 first-quarter deficit, took a one-point lead with two minutes remaining in the third quarter and stayed close the rest of the way.

Brethren Christian 74, Bel Air Prep 43--Host Brethren Christian outscored Bel Air Prep, 15-1, in the first quarter and led, 26-5, at the break. Brandon Stott and Chiron Hart had 19 each and Aaron Neilsen added 14 for Brethren Christian.

In Division V-A:

Liberty Christian 78, Riverside Christian 22--Liberty Christian (14-8) opened up a 32-6 lead in the first quarter. Dave Kellams scored 17 points, Toby Curto scored 13 points and Gabe Baltodano 12 for Liberty Christian.

In Division IV-A:

Laguna Beach 79, Bishop 55--Josh Borella scored 46 points for Laguna Beach at Bishop.

Borella scored 26 points in the second half as Laguna Beach outscored Bishop, 42-21. Borella made 13 of 21 shots and was 19 of 24 from the free-throw line the second half. Eric Segraus had 12 points and nine rebounds for Laguna Beach (18-9).

In Division IV-AA:

Whittier Christian 92, Salesian 60--Ruben Oronoz scored 24 of his 30 points in the first half for Whittier Christian at Salesian.

Oronoz had 19 rebounds for the Heralds (15-11), who outscored Salesian, 57-25, in the first half.
