Beverly Hills 1, Royal 0--Royal (19-4-3) fell despite outshooting Beverly Hills, 17-2. Roy Liebrecht deflected a shot off goalkeeper Steve Hambly with two minutes to play to spark the upset over the 4-A’s third-ranked team.

St. Francis 1, Santa Maria 0--Kevin Caberto scored 10 minutes into the second half in a 2-A match at St. Francis (10-5-3).

Chatsworth 3, Franklin 1--Don Oades, Glen Baerenes and Mike Sierra each scored for the host Chancellors (9-2-4) in a City Section quarterfinal match.

GIRLS

Royal 3, Don Lugo 1--Wende Brown scored twice and Staci Blough had three assists as the Highlanders (21-5-1) won their 10th consecutive match in a first-round 4-A match.

Louisville 2, Crescenta Valley 1--Holly Baines scored off a pass from Shellee Gautreau to give the Royals (17-4-2) the win at Crespi High in a first-round 3-A match and snap Crescenta Valley’s 18-match win streak. Danae Fielder scored for Crescenta Valley (18-1) after Louisville’s Julie Ley opened the scoring.

Alemany 2, Buena 1 (4 OTs, penalty kicks)--Melody Arvonio scored 30 minutes into the first half for Alemany but was forced to leave the match six minutes later after tripping and breaking her wrist in a first-round 3-A match. Cami Tubbs made 17 saves for Alemany (15-9-2).
