BOYS’ BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS
Division II
El Camino 81, Grossmont 70--Grossmont (16-9) led, 40-34, at halftime after hitting 17 of 26 first-half shots. El Camino (21-4) picked up its defense in the second half and eventually wore Grossmont down. El Camino forward Shaun Scurry led all scorers with 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Jeff Reeves added 19 for El Camino, including five three-pointers.
Division V
Christian 92, Santa Fe Christian 67--Christian had four players in double figures. David Piester led the way with 19 points. He also pulled down nine rebounds. Vince Clark scored 18 and had seven rebounds. Chad Degrenier scored 15 points, grabbed six rebounds, stole six passes and dealt six assists. Jeff Rose had 18 points and eight assists as Christian (20-5) moved onto the semifinals.
Santa Fe Christian finished at 10-15.
La Jolla Country Day 87, Francis Parker 54--Scond-seeded La Jolla Country Day (20-4) led 16-6 after one quarter and 38-22 after two. Larry Cheng had 16 points and five assists for the Torres. Teammate Josh Pepper sprinkled 13 points and eight assists.
Brink Sanders scored 21 for Parker (5-19).
