Scott Sharts of Cal State Northridge was among three players recognized as Collegiate Baseball magazine/Mizuno national players of the week.
In two games against Arizona and three against San Jose State, Sharts, a junior, was seven for 17 with five home runs and 10 runs batted in. He also won his only pitching start.
Sharts, 4-1 as a pitcher, leads Northridge (13-5) with 25 RBIs and 11 home runs.
He is two home runs shy of equaling the Matador career record of 42 held by John Balfanz.
Sharts shared the player-of-the-week award with Houston’s Ben Weber and Louisiana State’s Mark LaRosa, both pitchers.
