Top South Bay Senior Players Meet Friday in All-Star Classic

Twenty four of the area’s top high school senior basketball players will square off in the first South Bay All-Star Classic at 7:30 Friday night at South Torrance High.

Among the players participating are Mira Costa center Chris Davis (Ocean League co-most valuable player), Torrance forward Joe Zaletel (Pioneer League MVP), Rolling Hills center Roger Hendrix (Ocean League most outstanding player), Banning guard Jabari Anderson (Pacific League co-MVP and area scoring leader), Narbonne forward D’Mitri Rideout (Pacific League co-MVP), El Segundo guard Chris Hansen (CIF three-point shot leader) and Inglewood guards Jason Bowman and Codi Evans (Bay League co-MVPs).

Shawn Forbin and Arthur Savage of Morningside and center LeRoi O’Brien of Westchester were selected, but declined to play because their teams competed this week in the Southern California playoffs.

Art Bias of Inglewood and Cliff Warren of Rolling Hills will coach the Blue team, and Bob Little of Torrance and Rich Masson of Carson will coach the Red team.

The program begins at 7 with three-point shooting and slam-dunk contests. The game follows at 7:30. Tickets are $5 and available at the door.
