Former Saugus High pitcher Roger Salkeld was among three Seattle Mariners pitchers who were sent Thursday to the team’s minor-league camp for reassignment.

Salkeld, 20, was the third selection overall in the 1989 amateur draft after a three-year high school career in which he was 30-7 with 404 strikeouts and a 1.31 earned-run average in 266 1/3 innings. He signed for a cash bonus of $225,000.

Salkeld, a 6-foot-5 right-hander, pitched at Class A San Bernardino last season and was selected to pitch in the California League All-Star Game.
