PREP ROUNDUP : Santiago Rallies to Win in Volleyball

Noah Utu and Alex Ripley each had 12 kills and Santiago defeated La Quinta on Thursday in a Garden Grove League boys’ volleyball match at Santiago.

Santiago won, 3-15, 15-13, 15-9, 15-11.

In other Garden Grove League boys’ volleyball:

Garden Grove 3, Rancho Alamitos 0--Jeff Jones had nine kills and five blocks for host Garden Grove (8-2, 6-0 in league), a 15-5, 15-9, 15-7 winner.

Pacifica 3, Bolsa Grande 0--Erik Huhta had 11 blocks for visiting Pacifica (6-3, 5-1), which won, 15-0, 15-11, 15-2.

In pool play of the Woodbridge softball tournament:

Westminster 3, El Dorado 0--Lisa Robinette had a single and a run-scoring double and Andrea Doty (5-1) allowed six hits for Westminster.

Westminster 18, Edison 3--Kim Kallemeyn was four for four with three runs scored, Shelly Fuller had three hits and scored four runs, Brandy Ramirez had two hits and four RBIs and Lisa Robinette had two hits and three RBIs for Westminster (8-2).

In Arrowhead League softball:

Calvary Chapel 5, Sherman Indian 3--Georgie Bogert pitched a three-hitter and struck out four and Kim Schroy had one hit and scored twice for Calvary Chapel (2-4, 1-0) at TeWinkle Park.

In Garden Grove League boys’ tennis:

La Quinta 18, Kennedy 0--In sweeping the nine sets, the La Quinta doubles teams lost only three games. Visiting La Quinta is 10-1, 5-0.
