Garden Grove 3, Los Amigos 2--Joe Aguirre (1-2) allowed five hits, struck out 11 and walked six for host Garden Grove. Aguirre also had a triple and single for the Argonauts (3-5, 2-1), who scored three runs in the fifth.
La Quinta 8, Rancho Alamitos 5--Freshman Jim Livernois (1-0) pitched six innings, striking out six and allowing five hits and two runs for visiting La Quinta (13-3, 3-0). Ken Granger and Chad Leckie each had two hits and an RBI for La Quinta.
Kennedy 7, Bolsa Grande 5--Devin Underwood had two hits and two RBIs for visiting Kennedy (7-5, 2-1).
In a South Coast League game:
Irvine 3, Dana Hills 2 (10 innings)--Chris Grienke drove in the winning run with a single in the top of the 10th for Irvine (8-4, 1-1). Mike Seal pitched the final six innings, allowing five hits, no runs and striking out seven. Mark Huffman hit a two-run home run to give Irvine a 2-1 led in the third.
