COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Henzie Hits for Cycle to Lead Master’s Win

Russ Henzie of The Master’s College continued his hitting mastery in an NAIA District 3 game against visiting Biola on Friday.

The junior designated-hitter hit for the cycle, going four for five with two runs scored and one run batted in as the Mustangs survived a late-inning scare from Biola to win, 10-8.

Teammate Andy Martin collected his sixth and seventh home runs of the season with two-run blasts in the third and sixth innings.

Starter Chris Beck (6-3) went seven innings for Master’s (17-13, 10-6 in district play), giving up four earned runs and nine hits and striking out five. John March picked up his sixth save.

Biola is 8-20, 5-12.

In other baseball games:

Cal Lutheran 10-17, Caltech 0-0--Cal Lutheran pushed its winning streak to eight games with a pair of nonconference, five-inning, mercy-rule victories over visiting Caltech. Cal Lutheran (20-6) has won 12 of its past 13 games.

In the second game, Dan Weis hit a grand slam in a 13-run first inning for CLU and Tim Wimbish took a perfect game into the fifth before allowing a leadoff single. Wimbish (2-0) struck out eight and walked one.

Caltech is 2-19-1.

SOFTBALL

Antelope Valley 31, San Bernardino 1--T. C. Dedeaux had three hits to lead Antelope Valley (18-12, 5-3) in a Foothill Conference rout at San Bernardino that was called after five innings. Natalie Trejo had two hits and four RBIs in the third inning as Antelope Valley scored 14 runs.
