Cal State Northridge Signs Volleyball, Track Athletes

Track and field athletes Teresa Stricklin of Arroyo Grande High, Nicole Logan of Novato High, and Tamika Bradfield of Dominguez High, and volleyball player Peter Piexoto of Soquel High in Santa Cruz have signed letters of intent with Cal State Northridge.

Stricklin and Logan are two of the two of the state’s best shotputters and discus throwers, and Bradfield is one of the Southern Section’s best sprinters.

Piexoto (6-foot-5) was the most valuable player of the Santa Cruz County club volleyball league in 1989 and 1990.

Stricklin, the 1990 Southern Section 2-A Division champion in the shotput and discus, has personal bests of 43 feet 7 1/2 inches in the shotput and 145-1 in the discus. She finished second in the discus and fifth in the shotput in the Arcadia Invitational on April 13.

Logan, the Arcadia shotput champion, has a personal best of 43-3. She placed seventh in the shotput in last year’s state championships. Logan has thrown 134-0 in the discus.

Bradfield, who finished second in the 100 and third in the 200 in the Southern Section 4-A championships last year, ran a personal best of 24.67 seconds to finish third in the 200 at Arcadia.
