Highland Hall High set the Southern Section baseball record for consecutive league victories with a 23-6 victory over South Bay Lutheran on Tuesday in a game called after five innings by agreement at North Valley Colt Field.

The Hawks (9-5, 4-0 in league play), who joined the Westside League in 1986 and have yet to lose a league game, extended their streak to 36 to eclipse the record of 35 set by St. Bernard from 1986-89.

The Hawks sent 23 batters to the plate during a 19-run first inning. Jakob Jensen raised his batting average to .739, going four for four, including two doubles and a home run, driving in four runs. Jensen, who also picked up the win on the mound, has 20 hits in his past 21 at-bats.
