PREP SOFTBALL / SOUTHERN SECTION CHAMPIONSHIPS : Corona Defeats Paso Robles for 2-A Title

Junior Beth Robinson tossed a two-hitter as Corona High defeated Paso Robles, 2-0, to win the Southern Section 2-A softball title Friday night at Mayfair Park.
Robinson (25-2) retired the first 16 batters she faced and was working on a no-hitter with two outs in the seventh when Samantha Scott blooped a single to right.
Corona (27-2) used Barbara Smithley’s single and two errors to score twice in the fourth.
Paso Robles finished 24-2.
Irvine 1, Foothill 0--The Vaqueros (25-3) used an unearned first-inning run to beat the Knights (24-3) in the 4-A Division championship game.
Jennifer Brundage pitched a two-hitter, struck out seven and scored the game’s only run, coming home on an error after doubling. Foothill’s Leeann Gonzalez allowed only three hits.
