Three Track Athletes Sign With Cal State Northridge

Nate Wright of Merritt College in Oakland, Tannel House of Fresno Hoover High and Brian Godsey of Taft High have signed letters of intent with the Cal State Northridge track and field program, Coach Don Strametz said Wednesday.

Wright ran a personal best of 51.62 seconds to place second in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles in the state junior college championships at Sacramento City College in May. He also ran legs for the Thunderbirds’ 400- and 1,600-meter relay teams, which won state titles in 39.71 seconds and 3 minutes 8.29 seconds, respectively.

House, who placed fourth in the girls’ long jump in the state high school championships at Cerritos College on Saturday, has personal bests of 19 feet 5 1/2 inches in that event, 39-4 1/2 in the triple jump and 14.5 in the 100-meter low hurdles.

Godsey, who finished fourth in the 1,600 meters in the City Section track and field championships in May, has run 4:21.91 in that event and 9:37.79 in the 3,200.

He placed 12th in the 1990 state high school Division I cross-country championships.
