Mats Wilander showed up on crutches at a news conference at Bastad, Sweden, to announce that he will not play in the U.S. Open. The Swedish tennis player had arthroscopic knee surgery earlier this week.
Wilander was injured at Queen’s Club four weeks ago and missed Wimbledon. He is expected to be out two months. The U.S. Open starts Aug. 26.
