Six area players will play for the South tonight in the 40th Shrine North-South All-Star football game, which will begin at 6 at the Rose Bowl.

On offense, the South will call upon Hart High lineman Tim DeGroote, Westlake quarterback Todd Preston, and Kennedy running back Ontiwaun Carter.

Preston (6-foot-3, 180 pounds), who passed for 5,579 yards in his three-year career at Westlake, has signed a letter of intent with Cal but may leave the school because he is unhappy with the surroundings at Berkeley.
