Camp Kilpatrick football Coach Sean Porter said Thursday that his team will meet Montclair Prep on Oct. 10 in a rematch of teams that played for last season’s Southern Section Division X title.

Camp Kilpatrick, which dropped a 13-7 decision to the Mounties and finished 9-4-1 last season, scheduled the game to fill a void in the fifth week of the season.

The game will be played at Pierce College at 7:30 p.m.

Montclair Prep, which finished 10-3 last season, moved its game with Masada up to the third week of the season to play Camp Kilpatrick.

Montclair Prep and Camp Kilpatrick had openings in their schedule because Antelope Valley Christian announced Aug. 1 that it would be unable to field an 11-man team this season and again would play at the eight-man level. The Mounties and the Mustangs had both been scheduled to play Antelope Valley Christian.

Anthony Nicholson, Cal State Northridge’s starting fullback, returned to practice this week after missing a week of drills because of a left ankle sprain. He is expected to play Saturday in the opener against Eastern Washington.

Starting left guard Art Espino, who has been hampered by a lower-back sprain, and backup tight end Don Martin, who is suffering from a sprained ankle, also are expected to be ready for the Eastern Washington game.

Amateur boxers Giner Rodriguez and Jose Salas Jr. of Ventura finished second in their respective divisions in the Blue-Gold national boxing tournament in Baldwin Park on Sunday.

Rodriguez, 16, fought in the 106-pound division in the four-day tournament. Salas, 14, competed in the 125-pound classification.

Both are members of the Plantanos Boxing Club of Ventura and are coached by Jose Salas Sr.
