Rucker, Glendale to Open Season Against Alhambra

The Glendale High football team, coming off the best record (10-1) in school history, will open the season against visiting Alhambra in a nonleague game at 7:30 tonight.
With Pathon Rucker rushing for 1,878 yards and scoring 31 touchdowns last season, Glendale won the Pacific League title and was undefeated in the regular season. But the Dynamiters were shocked by Camarillo, 33-8, in the first round of the Southern Section Division II playoffs.
Rucker, along with five other all-league players, returns for Glendale, the No. 3-ranked team in the Division II preseason poll.
Alhambra (4-7, 3-2 in league play) finished third in the Foothill League last season and is expected to challenge Hart for the league title this season.
The Moors have 18 starters returning, including all-league wide receiver-defensive back Arath DeLaTorre and all-league defensive back Manny Ruedaflores.
In other games tonight, defending San Fernando League champion Harvard-Westlake (9-2) will play Blair (4-6-1) at Pasadena City College, and Village Christian (7-4-2) will play Bell-Jeff (1-9) at Burroughs High. Both games will start at 7:30.
