ROUNDUP : CSUN Outmatches Seton Hall in Volleyball

Cal State Northridge registered 36 kills and eight team blocks as the host Matadors swept Seton Hall, 15-9, 15-6, 15-4, in a women’s nonconference volleyball match Thursday night.

Northridge (7-4) was led by freshman middle blocker Ana Kristich with a team-high seven kills. Freshman outside hitter Missy Clements added six kills.

GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

L.A. Baptist d. Alemany, 15-9, 10-15, 15-11, 12-15, 16-14--Sarah Rameson of host L. A. Baptist (4-0) had 16 kills to lead all players in the nonleague match. Teammate Lucrieta Haynes had 14 kills.

Kennedy d. Carson, 13-15, 15-13, 9-15, 15-11, 15-13--Natalie Orellana had eight kills and Charlene Ching added seven to lead the Golden Cougars in a nonleague match at Kennedy.

Reseda d. Monroe, 15-4, 15-10, 11-15, 15-5--Tracy Dockery notched 10 kills and three aces and teammate Jill Pomrantz had six kills and five aces for the Regents in a nonleague match at Monroe.

Poly d. Eagle Rock, 15-7, 15-3, 15-10--Tami O’Dell had 13 kills and Lisa Giatti had eight to lead the Parrots past host Eagle Rock in a nonleague match.

L.A. Lutheran d. Pacific Christian, 16-18, 15-10, 6-15, 15-9, 15-13--Susan Riddle had 10 kills and three service aces to lead the Lions in a Heritage League match.

Bell-Jeff d. Burbank, 15-3, 15-9, 16-14--Deanna Cabrera had 12 kills to lead Bell-Jeff in a nonleague match at Bell-Jeff. The Guards (6-0) are off to their best start in school history.

Thousand Oaks d. Agoura, 15-11, 15-1, 15-6--Karli Cleary had 12 kills to lead visiting Thousand Oaks in a Marmonte League match.

Royal d. Newbury Park, 15-7, 7-15, 15-10, 15-5--Jennifer Hamilton had 22 kills and six blocks for visiting Royal in a Marmonte League match.

BOYS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Alemany 15, St. Bernard 45--Mike Yomtob timed 16 minutes 51 seconds on the three-mile O’Melveny Park course as the Indians swept the first five places in a Mission League meet.

Notre Dame 20, Crespi 41--The Knights (2-0) defeated their Mission League archrivals behind sophomore Greg Field’s 17:41 win at Woodley Park.

GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY

Alemany 24, St. Bernard 31--P. T. O’Reilly ran 21:32 to win a Mission League meet by more than a minute at O’Melveny Park.
