Bolsa Grande’s Big Plays Bury Pioneer, 19-8

GARDEN GROVE — On Bolsa Grande’s third play of the game, quarterback Brian Taylor ran 78 yards for a touchdown, sparking Bolsa Grande to a 19-8 victory over Pioneer Thursday at Bolsa Grande High School.
Pioneer took an 8-7 lead with 9 seconds remaining in the first half when quarterback Efren Herrera found Oley Khoumsavath for a 12-yard touchdown pass.
Herrera hit Louie Rizo for the two-point conversion to give the Titans (2-1) their only lead of the game.
Jonas O’Campo put the Matadors (1-2) ahead, 13-8, on a 36-yard run around left end with 6 minutes 25 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
Taylor scored Bolsa Grande’s final points, returning an interception 53 yards for a touchdown with 9 minutes, 11 seconds left in the game.
