HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL : THIS WEEK’S TOP GAMES

BEVERLY HILLS (3-0) vs. LEUZINGER (2-1)

Friday at Leuzinger, 7:30 p.m.

Beverly Hills quarterback Ziv Gottlieb passed for five touchdowns, three to David Saraf and two to Carl Benedetti, and ran for two more as the Normans routed Inglewood, 46-22. After a 45-16, season-opening loss to Carson, Leuzinger has shut out Paramount, 7-0, and Mira Costa, 14-0. Against Mira Costa, running back Lamark Jones gained 53 yards and scored two touchdowns.

* FAIRFAX (1-1) vs. WESTCHESTER (2-1)

Friday at Westchester, 8 p.m.

Fairfax ran only seven plays in the first half and lost to Narbonne, 25-14. The Lions committed five turnovers as Narbonne ended a 19-game losing streak. Westchester is coming off a 20-13 victory over Wilson. Comet running back Darnell Rubin ran for two touchdowns, one a 73-yarder, and Westchester scored its last touchdown on a 20-yard pass from Richard Bowen to Shannon Gadson.

* SANTA MONICA (2-1) vs. MIRA COSTA (1-2)

Friday at Santa Monica College, 7:30 p.m.

Santa Monica quarterback Zack Nishimura passed for more than 230 yards and two touchdowns as the Vikings edged South Torrance, 17-10. Two weeks ago Mira Costa lost to South, 18-17, after the Mustangs gave up 15 points in the closing three minutes. Mira Costa opened the season with a 39-7 victory over El Segundo and lost last week to Leuzinger, 14-0.

* PALISADES (2-0) vs. VENICE (1-2)

Friday at Palisades, 3 p.m.

Palisades quarterback Tommy Cochran passed for 74 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown pass to Larry Henderson, as the Dolphins shut out North Hollywood, 30-0. Cochran and Henderson have connected on four long scoring passes in two games. Venice tailback Alvin Cooley rushed for 281 yards and scored on an 83-yard run, but the Gondoliers were edged by San Pedro, 21-19.

* CULVER CITY (1-2) vs. West Torrance (1-2)

Friday at West Torrance, 7:30 p.m.

Culver City quarterback Dameron Ricketts passed for 207 yards and four touchdowns, two to Tommie Covington and two to Dannie Kamack, as the Centaurs defeated North Torrance, 32-14. One scoring pass to Covington, who also scored on a short plunge, covered 80 yards. In last week’s 28-20 loss to Hawthorne, West was led by quarterback Steve Sarkisian, who passed for 130 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Ralph Alarcon, who rushed for 130 yards.

* BRENTWOOD (3-0) vs. FLINTRIDGE PREP (3-0)

Saturday at Brentwood, 2 p.m.

Quarterback Jono Ohlgren has accounted for most of Brentwood’s scoring this season, passing for seven touchdowns and running for six more. Last week Ohlgren scored four rushing touchdowns and passed for another as the Eagles, ranked third in the Southern Section eight-man division, trounced San Diego Francis Parker, 47-24. No. 6 Flintridge Prep is coming off a 34-27 victory over Coast Union.
