Dana Hills 14, Santa Ana Valley 0--Dana Hills utilized a swarming defense for the shutout at Dana Hills.

The Dolphins (2-0-2) scored on the third play of the game when linebacker Nick Nosek intercepted a pass and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown. Rob Crummel’s extra point made it 7-0.

Dana Hills added another touchdown late in the third quarter when Marcus Jenkins ran over from two yards out to cap a 65-yard drive.

Neither team generated much offense. Dana Hills sophomore quarterback Scott Covington completed nine of 19 passes for 64 yards.

Santa Ana Valley quarterback Armando Cueva was sacked five times as the Falcons fell to 0-4.

Valley Christian 21, Santa Margarita 19--Jake Wiersma blocked an attempt for a game-winning 37-yard field goal by Santa Margarita’s Sean O’Brien with nine seconds left at Valley Christian to give Valley Christian (2-2) its first victory over Santa Margarita (1-3).

Santa Margarita’s Bert Coutts recovered a Valley Christian fumble on the Santa Margarita 47 with 47 seconds left, and the Eagles drove to the Crusader 21 to get into field goal range. But Wiersma came straight up the middle to block the kick.

Corey Peters rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns in 43 carries for Valley Christian (2-2). O’Brien passed for 160 yards and a touchdown to Brian Finneran for Santa Margarita. Luis Pavlovich rushed for two touchdowns for the Eagles.
