An Oxnard High School football player was injured when a school bus carrying the sophomore team was bombarded with rocks and bottles after a game in Santa Barbara.

Tim Ragan, 15, was cut by a rock thrown through an open window shortly after Santa Barbara’s 44-8 victory Thursday, said Lt. Rich Glaus of the Santa Barbara Police Department.

Glaus said two bus windows were shattered in the incident at 5:25 p.m.

Tim was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard and treated for a gash in his forehead, Principal Rick Rezinas said.

“Apparently there were some words exchanged between at least one Oxnard player and some spectators from Santa Barbara during the game,” Glaus said.

“The bus got a short distance away on Milpas Street, and rocks and bottles were thrown at the bus by some individuals who were following the bus.”
