Senior tailback LaKarlos Townsend rushed for 182 yards and four touchdowns in only 19 carries to lead San Fernando High to a 40-0 victory over Taft in a Northwest Valley Conference game Friday night at Taft.

Townsend scored one touchdown in each quarter on runs of 22, six, 17 and 15 yards. Townsend moved into eighth place on San Fernando’s all-time rushing list with 1,782 yards in his career, passing Bill Marsh, who had 1,637 yards from 1962-1964.

Brian Brison, the second back in San Fernando’s I-bone attack, added 95 yards in 10 carries, including a fourth-quarter touchdown run from two yards.

Dwight McDuff, San Fernando’s second-string quarterback, scored the final touchdown on a one-yard run with 4:36 to play.

The Taft offense was stymied throughout. The Toreadors (0-3-1, 0-1-1 in conference play) managed only one first down and were held to 42 yards on 37 plays from scrimmage.

San Fernando (5-0, 2-0) has won 14 of its past 15 meetings with Taft.
