It’s only October, but Orange County wrestling coaches already know who the top 10 teams will be when the season begins in December. They met Tuesday night to vote on it.

The results were predictable. Canyon, winner of 72 consecutive dual meets dating to 1986, is No. 1. The Comanches are led by Matt Padget, a State meet qualifier last season at 160 pounds.

Savanna, last season’s Southern Section 3-A champion, was voted No. 2. The Rebels lost Tony Okada, The Times Orange County 1990-91 wrestler of the year, to graduation, but 140-pounder Brad Belanger will lead the team once football season ends. He is the starting quarterback for Savanna.
