A 37-year-old man was killed when flames swept through his 27-foot-long travel trailer, authorities reported.
The blaze erupted at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, and by the time fire fighters arrived five minutes later, they found the trailer fully engulfed, Vista Fire Marshal Paul Dawson said.
It took 12 minutes to put the fire out, Dawson said. Afterward, firefighters discovered the body of a man later identified by the San Diego County medical examiner’s office as Joel Thomas Adams.
The trailer was parked at a towing yard in the 100 block of Olive Avenue, where two men in the office heard the flames and unsuccessfully tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher and garden hose before calling 911 for help, Dawson said.
Arson investigators from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department were called out to help determine the cause of the fire.
