Running back Ryan Roskelly scored four of his five touchdowns in the second half as third-ranked Valencia defeated eighth-ranked Brea-Olinda, 50-17, Friday night. Roskelly finished with 118 yards in 16 carries.

Greg Sebreros of Garden Grove continued to pile up yardage in the Argonauts’ 25-13 victory over Bolsa Grande. Sebreros had 180 yards in 19 carries and scored two touchdowns. Sebreros has gained 615 yards and scored nine touchdowns in the past three weeks.

ON DEFENSE

Although only a sophomore, Valencia linebacker Chris Draft made two big plays in the Tigers’ 50-17 victory over Brea-Olinda. Draft blocked a Wildcat field-goal attempt with one second left in the second quarter and recovered a fumble with seven minutes left in the third quarter.

NOTEWORTHY

Before it lost to Dana Hills for the first time since 1976, Mission Viejo celebrated its 25th anniversary homecoming. The halftime show featured a performance by the Mission Viejo band, an appearance by a number of former homecoming queens, a fireworks show, and the coronation of the 1991 queen, Jennifer Hollar. However, probably the biggest stir of the show came when the public address announcer got a little carried away trying to hawk 25th anniversary T-shirts. “You can take them home and make love in them,” he said.

ODDS AND ENDS

Lights, Camera, But Where’s the Action: The Orange County Newschannel had planned a live remote at Santa Ana Stadium for its 10 o’clock broadcast, but the Pacific Coast League between Century and Laguna Hills ended at 9:05 p.m. League games begin at 7, so the all-news cable station called an audible and did a remote at the Valencia-Brea-Olinda game. Century fans weren’t shortchanged, however; former Ram quarterback Vince Ferragamo anchored Comcast Cable’s coverage of the game at Santa Ana.

Wile E. Coyotes: There were plenty of Wildcat and Tiger fans at Brea-Olinda’s Orange League game against Valencia, as well as two uninvited guests--coyotes who had wandered into the stadium parking lot from nearby foothills. School officials were in hot pursuit, chasing the coyotes away before kickoff. “You don’t dare shoot them,” said one school official. “The environmentalists would be all over you.”
