OUTLOOK

The Jesters lost star player Bev Stiglebauer to graduation, so Krohn, in her first year of coaching on the prep level, starts the season without an established individual star. St. Joseph does return Ourique, a point guard who won second-team all-league recognition, and Reilly at center. Krohn may do some experimenting with Reilly and Melissa Smith (both 6-2) in a double-post offense. Defensively, the Jesters appear to have enough quick players in Rogers, Acosta, Larson, Studdard and Ourique to employ a tight man-to-man defense. With its height, St. Joseph will be competitive on the backboards, but the team does not appear to have any outstanding three-point shooters after early practices. The Jesters finished in a second-place tie with Rosary last season. Krohn figures her team has a chance to contest Mater Dei and Bishop Amat for the championship if it works together, although she admits she does not yet know much about the Angelus League.
