PREP TENNIS : Peninsula Dominates to Win 4-A Championship

Nicole London lost one game in three sets as Palos Verdes Peninsula High defeated Santa Barbara, 16-2, for the Southern Section 4-A Division girls’ tennis championship Tuesday at the Claremont Club.

Loudon is one of three Peninsula singles players nationally ranked in their age groups. In the four playoffs, Peninsula (24-0) outscored opponents, 66-6.

Westlake Village Westlake 15, Camarillo 5--In Division 3-A, the doubles teams of Allison Levitt and Kim Stuart, Joanna Mazor and Andrea Mura, and Jennifer Reese and Michelle Clark swept their nine matches in leading Westlake (20-2) over Marmonte League rival Camarillo (19-3). The teams had split their two regular-season meetings.

Los Alamitos 12, Fullerton Rosary 6--In 2-A, Los Alamitos’ No. 1 doubles team of Meredith Valt and Erica Lindey led the way with 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 victories.

Palos Verdes Chadwick 10, Pasadena Poly 8--In 1-A, Jenny Lautner and Wendy Ridder, Chadwick’s No. 3 doubles team, upset Minnie Ingersoll and Cathy Rongey, Pasadena Poly’s No. 2 team, 7-6, (7-3) in a winner-takes-title set. Lautner-Ridder trailed, 5-3.

Brentwood 9, La Mirada 9--In Small Schools, Brentwood won the title in a tiebreaker, based on a two-game margin over La Mirada, 85-83.
