In a Division III semifinal:
El Modena 3, University of San Diego High School 1--After losing the first game, 6-15, Century League champion El Modena (23-2) swept the next three games, 15-8, 15-9, 15-7, to advance to Tuesday’s Southern California Regional championship game against Los Angeles Marymount.
Marni Hichborn and Lynette Anderson each had 13 kills to lead El Modena. Kate Stockholm had 17 kills for USDHS 17.
After losing the first game, the Vanguards came back strong by capitalizing on USDHS’s mistakes. In game four, USDHS committed 13 unforced errors.
