OUTLOOK

Saddleback opened the season with four victories and the championship of the Norwalk Glenn tournament. Although the quality of competition might not be as strong as what some of the other league teams faced in the first week, Quinn says his team is solid. Register, who averaged 17 points last season and 19 points and 10 rebounds in the tournament, can play guard, forward or even post. Register has averaged about 10 trips to the free-throw line per game. Quinn has been pleasantly surprised by the more controlled play of Estrella, an all-around athlete who is also a standout football and baseball player. Estrella, who averaged about 14 points in the tournament, is an active defender--he took five charges in one game. Bradshaw, a starter last year as a freshman, averaged about 13 points in the opening tournament. The Roadrunners have a nice balance between experienced seniors and skilled sophomores, and that has boosted Quinn’s confidence. “If we can open things up a bit and have more than one main man, I think we’ll create some problems,” Quinn said.
