COLLEGE ROUNDUP : SCC’s Randolph, Johnson Key Victory Over Dominguez Hills

Keith Randolph scored 18 points and Edmond Johnson had 13 as Southern California College defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills, 78-65, in a nonconference men’s basketball game Monday at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Rich Witmer had 12 points and Mike West had a team-high nine rebounds and also scored 11 points for Southern California College (10-1), which opened a 35-27 lead at the half.

Mike Henjum had 10 points and five assists. Johnson also had five assists.

It was only the second time in the past 22 games that Cal State Dominguez Hills (8-5) has given up as many as 78 points in a game.

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Nebraska 77, Cal State Fullerton 67--Joey Ray had a career-high eight steals and Kisa Hughes had a career-high 22 points for Cal State Fullerton, which lost at home. Ray and Claudette Jackson had 13 points each for Fullerton (5-4), which has lost three in a row.

Center Karen Jennings scored 25 points for Nebraska (8-3). She was 11 of 19 from the field and also had a game-high nine rebounds.

Fullerton plays host to UC Santa Barbara at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Big West Conference opener for both teams.

In the Concordia Austin women’s basketball tournament:

Christ College Irvine 98, Concordia Austin 63--Gitte Mejer scored 24 points and had 12 rebounds to lead Christ College Irvine (9-2) in the title game in Austin, Tex. Mejer was selected as the tournament’s most valuable player.

Nancy Geisler added 17 points, including three three-pointers for Christ College Irvine.

In the Concordia Austin men’s basketball tournament:

Concordia Portland 72, Christ College Irvine 69--D’Andre Brown scored 17 points but Christ College Irvine (5-8) lost in the third-place game. Carl Bronson was the only other Christ College Irvine player in doubles figures with 14 points.
