COMMUNITY COLLEGES

It was a shattering experience for the Glendale men’s basketball team, but the Vaqueros still emerged with a victory.

Glendale beat Santa Barbara, 66-60, on Saturday in a game that was delayed for 55 minutes after Santa Barbara’s Haji Dunn brought down a glass backboard with a slam dunk with about five minutes left in the first half.

Officials moved the game to another court in the Santa Barbara gym, and Glendale went on to improve its record to 9-8 overall and 2-1 in the Western State Conference.

“That’s never happened in one of our games before,” Glendale Coach Brian Beauchemin said. “That’s just another thing to file for what has already been a crazy year.”

The Vaqueros continue Western State Conference play Saturday at Oxnard.

Glendale College soccer player Narciso Monge was selected Western State Conference player of the year by conference coaches.
