BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Prince’s 28 Help Keep Quartz Hill in 1st Place

Dan Prince scored a game-high 28 points to lead Quartz Hill High to a 54-48 victory over Canyon in a Golden League game Tuesday night at Canyon.

Ryan Beckstead added 12 for Quartz Hill (11-6, 4-0).

Brent Stout scored 14 points and Joe Ferguson added 13 for Canyon (10-8, 2-2).

In other boys’ games:

Saugus 47, Antelope Valley 45 (OT)--Josh Hinrichs made a field goal for Saugus (14-5, 3-1) with two seconds to play in overtime and Steve Tampus scored 15 points in a Golden League game at Antelope Valley.

Santa Clara 66, Ribet Academy 38--Isaiah Mustafa scored 24 points and Stevie Amar had 20 to lead Santa Clara (15-3) in a nonleague game at Oxnard. Art Barron had 11 assists and Chris Cole added nine rebounds for Santa Clara.

Burbank 64, Burroughs 58--Gabe Colon scored a game-high 22 points and Phil Hernandez added 16 for visiting Burroughs in a Foothill League game.

Glendale 74, Arcadia 58--David Sofro’s 22 points paced Glendale (11-9, 1-3) in a Pacific League game. Hai Tran scored 16 points, Mike Wright had 14 and Paul Chin added 13.

Muir 61, Hoover 46--Hoover point guard Dave Ulloa was limited to three points in a Pacific League game at Muir.

Chad Reese scored a team-high 25 points for Hoover (9-9, 1-3).

Faith Baptist 83, Whitney 59--Guards Darren Wyre (20 points) and Alex Estrada (21 points, eight assists) paved the way for Faith Baptist in a Delphic League game.

Etienne Moore added 15 points and 20 rebounds for Faith Baptist (13-5, 4-1).

Village Christian 70, Maranatha 47--Village Christian (7-10, 2-1) scored 32 points in the fourth quarter, including seven by David Fennell and nine by Tarik Blair in an Alpha League game. Fennell and Blair each scored 20 points in the game.

Nordhoff 59, Thacher 44--Steve Saum scored 12 points, all in second half to help host Nordhoff rebound from a 28-25 halftime deficit in a nonleague game. Nacho Vega scored 14 of his game-high 20 points in the second half for Nordhoff (11-6).

L.A. Lutheran 60, Viewpoint 40--Casey Patton scored 13 points and blocked seven shots in L.A. Lutheran’s nonleague victory over visiting Viewpoint. Greg Norlie added 12 for Lions (12-3, 6-0).

Holy Martyrs 43, Yeshiva 35--Sako Balian scored 14 points and 20 rebounds for host Holy Martyrs (10-5, 4-1) in a Liberty League game.

GIRLS

Buena 76, Rio Mesa 30--Mikko Giordano had a game-high 28 points and nine rebounds to lead Buena (13-1, 6-0) in a Channel League contest at Ventura. Buena led, 39-14, at halftime.

Simi Valley 48, Newbury Park 45--Stephanie Hale had 15 points and Pauline Feggo contributed 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead visiting Simi Valley (7-8, 3-3) in a Marmonte League game.

Kristen Olsen scored 13 points for Newbury Park (8-8, 1-5).

Thousand Oaks 71, Channel Islands 42--Michelle Palmisano scored a game-high 26 points and Sasha Scardino added 16 to lead host Thousand Oaks (16-1, 6-0) in a Marmonte League game.

Westlake 67, Camarillo 33--Off-guard Marlee Organ scored 18 points and added 10 assists to lead Westlake (14-3, 6-0) in a Marmonte League game at Camarillo. Lauren Goldstine had 17 points and 14 rebounds for Westlake.

Hart 63, Schurr 28--Shannon Martin scored 20 points in three quarters of play for Hart (7-10, 2-1) against visiting Schurr (7-9, 1-2) in a Foothill League game. Lorile Downen added 16 points.

Glendale 55, Arcadia 41--Tracy Young and Jenny Dalton each scored 20 points to lead Glendale (14-7, 3-1) in a Pacific League game at Arcadia. Young had 10 rebounds and Dalton added 14.

Oxnard 45, San Marcos 32--Alicia Sims had 14 points and 20 rebounds to lead Oxnard (8-5, 4-2) in a Channel League game at Santa Barbara.

L.A. Baptist 48, Montclair Prep 35--Lori Neville and Darcie Frazier each scored 15 points to lead the host Knights (3-10, 2-1) in an Alpha League game.

Holy Martyrs 65, Yeshiva 20--Aline Dukmajian scored a team-high 13 points to lead Holy Martyrs (15-2, 5-0) in a Liberty League game at home.
