BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Thousand Oaks Stays Unbeaten in League Play

Thousand Oaks High remained in first place in the Marmonte League with a 67-46 victory over visiting Westlake on Friday night. Senior guard Andrew Borg scored a game-high 18 points for Thousand Oaks (12-5, 7-0 in league play), Kirk Pederson had 14 and Jason Hartman added 12.

Joey Leavitt scored 17 points for Westlake (7-9, 3-4).

Simi Valley 82, Camarillo 47--Danny Alexander scored 23 points and Gordon Stolla added 16 for visiting Simi Valley (15-3, 6-1) in a Marmonte League game.

Newbury Park 69, Agoura 60--Sean McKeown’s 24 points helped the Panthers (9-7, 4-3) in a Marmonte League game. Agoura closed to 63-60 with three minutes left, but Newbury Park scored the final six points. Agoura’s Eddie Corridori scored 16 of his 30 points in the third quarter.

Royal 80, Channel Islands 79 (OT)--Brett Osterhoudt (19 points) hit two free throws with 30 seconds to play in a Marmonte League game at Royal. Steve Hodge scored a career-high 27 points for Royal (6-11, 3-4). Fred Gaines scored 25 for Channel Islands (6-10, 1-6).

Taft 83, San Fernando 68--Johnny Williams, a 6-foot-7 sophomore center, scored 19 points and added 16 rebounds to lead Taft (10-3, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.

Kennedy 64, El Camino Real 53--Off-guard Shauhin Talesh scored a game-high 20 points to lead host Kennedy (12-5, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.

Chatsworth 80, Granada Hills 65--Junior center Brady Mertes had 35 points and 10 rebounds to lead host Chatsworth (10-4, 2-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game. Omari Myles scored 20 for Granada Hills (3-10, 0-2).

Sherman Oaks CES 57, Van Nuys 50--Mitch Shenkin scored a game-high 15 points and Barry McWright added 12 to lead Sherman Oaks in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Van Nuys.

Birmingham 58, Sylmar 45--Booker Montgomery scored 18 points and Raffi Kassabian added 16 for the Braves (7-7, 3-2) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game.

Poly 86, Canoga Park 77 (2 OTs)--Juan De Luna had 20 points and 13 rebounds and Eddie Cardenas added 19 points for host Poly (5-7, 1-3) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game.

Nordhoff 70, Fillmore 47--Tim Sebek played for the first time in two weeks and scored 16 points in just over two quarters for Nordhoff (12-6, 2-1) in a Frontier League game.

Moorpark 55, Oak Park 53 (OT)--Rich Hernandez hit five of six free throws in overtime to give Moorpark (6-12, 2-1) a Tri-Valley League win.

Montclair Prep 75, Village Christian 52--Kris Johnson scored 22 points to lead host Montclair Prep (17-1, 4-1) in an Alpha League game. It was the Mounties’ 15th victory in a row.

Glendale 72, Hoover 64 (OT)--Mike Wright scored a season-high 35 points to lead Glendale (12-9, 2-3) in a Pacific League game. Hoover’s Dave Ulloa scored 26 points and made six three-point shots.

Santa Clara 52, Carpinteria 38--Stevie Amar had 21 points and 13 rebounds as host Santa Clara (16-3) won a nonleague game.

Hueneme 53, Oxnard 47--Wendell Nunnery scored nine of his game-high 26 points in the final period to lead host Hueneme (10-8, 3-4).

Crescenta Valley 61, Arcadia 56--Josh Willis scored 28 points to lead the Falcons (12-7, 4-1) to a Pacific League win.

Calabasas 54, Santa Paula 48--Anthony Hampton scored 12 of his 26 points in the third quarter to lead host Calabasas (7-10, 2-2) in a Frontier League game.

Harvard-Westlake 73, La Salle 65--Greg Peters scored 21 points and Tarlin Ray added 17 points and 13 assists for the Wolverines (11-6-3-1) in a San Fernando League game.

Bell-Jeff 59, El Segundo 48--Damien Scott (17 points) and Bryan Camacho (16 points, 10 assists) helped Bell-Jeff (13-4, 4-0) in a San Fernando League game.

St. Genevieve 73, St. Francis 71--Jeremy Iaccino scored 22 points and Ryan McGinnis had 17 points and 12 rebounds for St. Genevieve (6-9, 2-2) in a San Fernando League game.
