In other men’s basketball games:

Claremont-Mudd 75, Cal Lutheran 74--The host Kingsmen (7-9, 3-1 in conference play) came back from an 11-point deficit in the final three minutes but fell short in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.

With Cal Lutheran trailing by three points, Jeff deLaveaga scored a layin on an inbounds play with four seconds left, but the Stags let the clock run out. DeLaveaga led all scorers with 21 points but hit only six of 21 shots from the field.

Paul Tapp scored 14 points and Kelly Crosby added 10 for the Kingsmen.

Oxnard 74, Cuesta 52--Oxnard overcame adversity to post its fifth consecutive victory in a Western State Conference game at Cuesta.

Only seven players suited up for Oxnard (14-9, 2-0). Within the past week, one player was dismissed from the team, another quit and guard Marlow Durmiendo twisted an ankle in practice and was sidelined. Point guard Shawn Talley had 21 points and seven assists.

Antelope Valley 99, Desert 57--Antelope Valley dealt Desert its 16th consecutive loss without a victory in a Foothill Conference game at Desert.

D. J. Jackson scored a game-high 30 points to pace the Marauders (12-10, 5-1).

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Valley 74, Canyons 73--Rosa Mendez scored 10 of her game-high 18 points in the last 4 minutes 30 seconds to propel Valley in a Western State Conference South Division game at Canyons.

Kim Fischer led Canyons (10-13, 4-3) with 17 points. Teammates Shannon Solway and Kate Stoll added 14 and 10 points.

Amy Horst came off the bench to score 13 points for Valley (21-3, 7-0), and starting forward Wendy Bruse added 10.

Santa Monica 55, Glendale 39--Stephanie Ball scored 15 points, had five rebounds and three assists for visiting Glendale (9-12, 2-4) in a WSC game.

Southern Utah 71, Cal State Northridge 63--Candice Lords scored a game-high 18 points for the host Thunderbirds (4-12), handing CSUN its 21st consecutive loss.

Janel Vega led the Matadors (0-21) with 12 points. CSUN, which trailed by one point at intermission, shot 31.5% in the second half.

Southern California 71, The Master’s 50--Guard Angie Davenport scored a game-high 20 points, but it could not prevent the host Mustangs (3-14) from an NAIA District 3 loss.

Ventura 66, Santa Barbara 63--Andrea Williams and Cori Herman scored 18 points each, leading Ventura (18-6, 1-0) in a Western State Conference North Division game.

MEN’S SWIMMING

UC Irvine 142, Cal State Northridge 95--James Taschek won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:43.99 for host Northridge in a nonconference meet. Teammate Morten Ibsen won the 200-yard individual medley in 1:59.22 and Scott Wilson won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:13.63.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING

Cal State Northridge 140, UC Irvine 91--Nicole Hudson, Cecilia Henricksen and Kathy Ruiz recorded victories for host Northridge in a nonconference meet.
