Top-Ranked Players Advance to Finals of Racquetball Event

Form prevailed Saturday at Racquetball World in Canoga Park where the top-seeded players in the men’s and women’s open divisions advanced to the finals of the Heartbreakers Open ’92.

Brett Harnett of Las Vegas, ranked first among the men, defeated Jeff Johnson of Placentia, 15-5, 15-2, in a semifinal match and will play No. 2 Andy Gross of West Los Angeles, who stopped John Ivers of Palm Springs, 15-8, 15-5.

Top-seeded Marci Drexler cruised past Anaheim’s Renee Lockey, 15-6, 15-7, to set up an all-San Diego women’s final. She will face No. 2 Chris Evon, who dispatched Mae Chin-Varon of North Hills, 15-4, 15-8.

The women’s final will start at noon today, followed immediately by the men’s title match.
