Rochelle Lightner had 21 points and 10 rebounds as Point Loma Nazarene routed Southern California College, 91-61, in an NAIA District 3 game in Point Loma.

Stacee Eggers added 15 points and 11 rebounds, Camille Armijo 19 points and eight assists and Christy Stevens 17 on five three-pointers for the Crusaders (19-6). Kristen Bevis scored 23 for SCC (10-19).

With singles victories, Joe McDonough and Chris Numbers improved to 3-0 as did San Diego State, which defeated Brigham Young, 5-1, in a Western Athletic Conference match at SDSU. The Aztecs are 2-0 in the WAC.

UC San Diego opened its season with a 5-1 loss at Cal State Bakersfield. All five UCSD losses went to three sets against the 11th-ranked Division II team. UCSD, ranked No. 5 in Division III, got its only victory from its only freshman, Robert Ho, who won, 6-0, 6-4.
