HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Thousand Oaks Wins Title Behind Palmisano’s 36

Michelle Palmisano moved to third on the all-time state and Southern Section career scoring lists with a game-high 36 points to lead Thousand Oaks High to an outright Marmonte League title with a 59-40 victory over visiting Westlake. Thousand Oaks improved to 24-1, 14-0 in league play; Westlake is 20-5, 12-2.

With a total of 2,607 points, Palmisano passed Gahr’s Necie Thompson (2,574 from 1977-80) and trails only Riverside Poly’s Cheryl Miller (3,446) and Morningside’s Lisa Leslie (2,896).

In another girls’ basketball game:

Simi Valley 50, Camarillo 47--Heather Eubanks made two free throws with 42 seconds left to give the Pioneers (11-12, 7-7) a 50-46 lead in a Marmonte League finale.

Karli Jungwirth scored 13 points for Camarillo.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

L.A. Baptist 63, Maranatha 62--Brad Imbler hit a three-point shot with three seconds left for L.A. Baptist in an Alpha League game. Dane Brown and Mark Heerema each scored 18 points for L.A. Baptist (15-7, 7-3).

Montclair Prep 89, Campbell Hall 78--Kris Johnson scored 32 points to lead the Mounties (24-1) in a nonleague season finale.
