HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Thousand Oaks Romps, 70-32

Michelle Palmisano had 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead Thousand Oaks High to a 70-32 victory over Hart on Saturday night in the first round of the Southern Section Division I-A girls’ basketball playoffs.

Melissa Wood added 15 points for Thousand Oaks (25-1), which is seeded No. 1.

Shannon Martin had 16 points for Hart (12-14).

In other girls’ first-round Southern Section playoff games:

Channel Islands 70, Chaffey 69 (OT)--Shawanda Hotchkiss scored on a short jump shot with 10 seconds to play in overtime to give the Raiders (19-8) a Division I-AA victory at Chaffey.

Hotchkiss scored a team-high 18 points and Birgie Juarez added 15.

Glendale 48, Victor Valley 47--Jenny Dalton (19 points, 11 rebounds) made two free throws with one minute remaining to give the Dynamiters (20-7) a victory in a Division I-AA game.

Hesperia 51, Simi Valley 44--Nikki Spindler scored 12 points and grabbed 17 rebounds for Simi Valley, but the Pioneers (12-13) fell in a Division I-AA game.

Buena 59, Camarillo 50--Junior center April Buck had 17 points and 13 rebounds to lead Buena in a Division I-A game at Ventura.

Buena (22-2), seeded third, led by as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter.

Westlake 77, Temple City 38--Lauren Goldstine had 30 points and 11 rebounds for host Westlake (21-5) in a Division II-A game.

Marlee Organ and Shanon Sincock each had 12 points for Westlake, which led at halftime, 45-13.

Alemany 74, Mira Costa 48--Sarah Guziel, who scored a game-high 20 points, was 10 for 10 from the field to lead the Indians (22-4) in a Division II-A game.

Santa Clara 55, Whitney 45--Dawnte Anderson (18), Denise Hamilton (14) and Monica Maestas (10) each scored in double figures for host Santa Clara in a Division IV-AA game.

Santa Clara is 13-10.

Chaminade 55, La Reina 34--Maria Costa scored a game-high 16 points to help the Eagles (18-9) upset La Reina (18-1) in a Division IV-AA game.

Village Christian 40, Mojave 35--Jeanne Beauchamp scored 11 points to lead Village Christian (13-9) in a Division IV-A game.

Five of Beauchamp’s seven assists came in the first half as Village Christian took a 29-16 lead.

Leslie Hammond led Mojave with 10 points.

Oak Park 61, Whittier Christian 43--Alexa Valavanis scored a game-high 16 points and Gina Cusano added 14 points for host Oak Park (13-9) in a Division IV-A game.

Julianne Pitton had 11 points for Oak Park, which led, 31-15, at halftime.

Holy Martyrs 45, La Verne Lutheran 33--Aliane Altibarmakian had 12 points and 16 rebounds and Tamar Titizian added 15 rebounds for host Holy Martyrs (20-2) in a Division V-AA game.

Melo Derdanielian contributed 12 points for Holy Martyrs.

WRESTLING

Valley League championships--David Duran (112), Matt Tuttle (145), Andy Roth (152), Matt Austin (160), and Ron Avneri (189) each won his respective weight class in leading El Camino Real to the team title with 172 points.

San Fernando was second with 152 1/2 and Canoga Park was third at 140.
