Sophomore point guard Trenton Cross of Reseda...

Sophomore point guard Trenton Cross of Reseda High scored a career-high 34 points in Thursday’s 70-66 loss to Chatsworth, but his week didn’t end there. He also scored 24 and 18 points in two other games and added 31 on Monday. Cross is averaging 21.3 points in Northwest Valley Conference play. Cross made 18 of 20 free throws in Monday’s victory over El Camino Real, which gave Reseda a share of the West Valley League title with Chatsworth.

Scoring: Saugus’ Josh Hinrichs scored a team-high 488 points in 27 games to finish with an 18.1 scoring average. Hinrichs’ point total placed him third on Saugus’ single-season scoring list behind Rusty Morse (548 in 1986-87) and Greg Yumbar (521 in 1990-91). Hinrichs also averaged a team-high 3.4 assists. Saugus’ Steve Tampus averaged 15.3 points. . . .

Senior Josh Willis last week moved into sixth place on Crescenta Valley’s career scoring list, raising his point total to 889. Willis ranks 10th on the school’s single-season scoring list with 573 points in 24 games (23.9 average). Willis, averaging 6.8 rebounds, is being recruited by Cal State Northridge and Chapman. . . .

Littlerock’s James Cain (39) and Mitch Casey (21) scored 60 of the Lobos’ 79 points in their loss to Monrovia in a Southern Section Division III-AA playoff game last week. . . .

Buena senior guard Lance Fay needs 25 points to break Jeff Oliver’s single-season school record of 757 set in 1989-90. Fay is 48 shy of Oliver’s career record of 1,595.

Records: Royal High guard Brett Osterhoudt set a school record with eight three-point baskets in the Highlanders’ 97-85 loss to Diamond Bar in a Division I-A qualifying-round game last week. Osterhoudt eclipsed David Tyner’s record of six, which Tyner accomplished three times last season. . . .

Taft swingman Miguel Carrillo made 23 three-point baskets in 10 conference games to set a school record. Teammate Greg Reith, who made 12 of 20 attempts (60%), set a school season record for three-point accuracy. Johnny Williams, a sophomore center, averaged 12.1 rebounds in conference play, another record. . . .

Rebounding from its worst season, Crescenta Valley is in the playoffs for the 26th season in its 30-season history. The Falcons, who were 8-15 last season, have finished no worse than third 26 times. Coach John Goffredo is 214-119 in 14 seasons.

Assists: Simi Valley junior point guard Ryan Briggs has 167 assists, the fourth best season total in school history. Briggs needs six to tie current varsity assistant Todd Johnson, who recorded his total in 1985-1986. With 201 career assists, Briggs, a junior, is eighth on the school list.

Rebounds: Anthony Hampton’s foul trouble possibly cost Calabasas in a season-ending 60-52 loss to Covina in the III-A opening round. It also possibly cost Hampton the school’s single-season rebounding record. He finished with 331, four behind Jon Drezner’s record set in the 1987-88 season. Hampton had 13 rebounds despite sitting as early as two minutes into the second quarter with three fouls.

Girls’ soccer: Nordhoff junior striker Charlee Bell tied Janna Morrison’s school record for goals in a season with her 18th. Nordhoff (7-5-3) ended its season with a 4-0 loss to Cerritos in a 2-A playoff match Thursday.
