In other Division IV-A games:

Verbum Dei 76, Whittier Christian 47--A tough Verbum Dei defense kept Whittier Christian scoring to a minimum. Arthur Miller scored 22 points for Verbum Dei (18-6).

In Division III-A:

Rancho Alamitos 72, South Hills 48--A close game up until the fourth quarter, Rancho Alamitos, led by junior forwards Marshal Brown, with 16 points, and Ed Taylor, with 15 points, scored 22 points to South Hills five points in the fourth.

In Division V-AA:

Brethren Christian 76, St. Margaret’s 69--Scott Thomas scored 23 points and Brethren Christian extended its winning streak to 15 games at St. Margaret’s.

Brethren Christian (24-2) broke the game open in the third quarter by outscoring St. Margaret’s, 19-9, after leading, 36-30, at the half.

Tim Osborn hit a baseline jumper, then scored off his own rebound to cap a 9-2 run that put Brethren Christian up, 53-37, with 3 minutes 30 seconds remaining in the third quarter. The Warriors led by no less than seven from then on.

Osborn finished with 16 points including eight in the third quarter. Chiron Hart had 17 points for Brethren Christian.

St. Margaret’s finished 14-7.

Only five players scored for the Tartans, led by 18 points each from Lupe Rodriguez and Geoff Hanzlik.

Brentwood 81, Capistrano Valley Christian 55--Ricky David scored 20 points, including five three-pointers, for Brentwood (22-4). Troy Rodarmel scored 25 points and had five rebounds for Capistrano Valley Christian (13-13).

In Division V-A:

Liberty Christian 84, Lancaster Bethel Christian 62--Dave Kellams had 30 points, including four three-point shots, and 13 rebounds and Toby Curto scored 27 for host Liberty Christian (18-6).
