Compton Centennial 82, Newport Harbor 60--Guard Justin McIntee scored 26 points in a losing effort for Newport Harbor (11-15). Levi Watson had 16 points and five assists and teammate Will Weir added 18 points and nine rebounds for Centennial (19-8).

Lompoc 70, Santa Margarita 68--Tommy Christian’s layup with 20 seconds left capped off a furious comeback as Lompoc nipped host Santa Margarita.

The Braves (15-8), who will meet Morningside Friday in the quarterfinals, were down by as many as 22 points in the first half and 18 at halftime, but they increased the tempo and forced the Eagles into taking many wild shots in the second half. Lompoc took its first lead, 67-66, with 1:52 remaining.

Santa Margarita (18-9) had a chance for the victory, but Mike Carpenter’s three-point attempt from the baseline missed long at the buzzer. He finished with 20 points. Senior Dan Bathey had 27 points for the Eagles, who attempted just nine shots in the fourth quarter.
