HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL GIRLS’ PLAYOFF ROUNDUP : Peninsula Handles Paramount Easily

Share

Despite losing a starter to illness, the top-ranked and undefeated Palos Verdes Peninsula girls’ basketball team had little trouble in a 94-50 victory over Paramount in the second round of the Southern Section Division I-A playoffs Wednesday night.

Earlier this week, Peninsula Coach Wendall Yoshida learned starting guard Raquel Alotis had contracted mononucleosis. Yoshida said Alotis could have played if needed Wednesday, and a determination on her status will be made today.

The other starters filled in nicely. Center Jeffra Gausepohl scored 24 points, sophomore forward Mimi McKinney had 23 and Monique Morehouse and Kristen Mulligan had 16 each for Peninsula, which improved to 26-0.
