The C-Hawks shared the Academy League championship with St. Margaret’s last season, the first baseball title for Cal Lutheran in the school’s 15-year history. Bartelt, who returns to the team after a two-year hiatus, believes a repeat is possible. “We have a lot of experience and a lot of enthusiasm,” he said. The C-Hawks feature two excellent hitters in Jorgensen (.429 batting average last season with 12 runs batted in) and Walker (.341 and 20 RBIs). “Last year, they had more of a running team. We still can run. Everyone in our lineup has speed. But this year we hope to add power. We go nine deep in hitting. I don’t think we’ll have a weak spot in the lineup,” Bartelt said. Aguilar, who was 2-0 with a 2.65 earned-run average in 1991, will split time between pitching and catching. Krug, a transfer from Winnebago Lutheran High in Fond du Lac, Wis., could be the No. 2 starter. “We are hoping that Krug and Aguilar will be our best pitchers, but we’ll have to develop a third and fourth pitcher,” Bartelt said. “Aguilar has a very strong arm.” Olsen, a sure-handed fielder, lends stability to the infield. “He’s a pretty solid shortstop,” Bartelt said.
