Costa Mesa had to wait nearly two weeks for its first playoff game after completing an undefeated Pacific Coast League season, and the Mustangs were a bit rusty in their Division III-A game Wednesday against Pacifica. Pacifica opened with a box-and-one defense designed to stop DiCamilli, the leading scorer in the county during the regular season. But after starting slowly, DiCamilli broke free to score 21 points and lead Costa Mesa to a 62-46 victory. She then scored 19 points Saturday in a 62-48 victory over Covina Northview. “The teams are trying to come out and really concentrate on (DiCamilli), but I have a lot of other players who score if the opportunity is presented to them,” Coach Jim Weeks said. That opportunity came against Northview when center April Van Sweden and forward Angela Tonavanik each scored 10 points, and guard Janet Ospina made three three-point shots.

Other top performers:

Jody Anton, who scored 20 points in Brea-Olinda’s 70-41 victory over Culver City in a Division III-AA playoff game.

Christine Garner, who had 28 points and 14 rebounds, helping Tustin defeat Torrance, 54-33, in a Division II-AA playoff game.

Denise Kenyon, who scored two goals, including one in the final minute, to lead two-time defending champion El Toro to a 2-1 victory over Claremont in the Division 4-A soccer playoffs.

Nikki Vivion, who had 25 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocks in Ocean View’s 63-46 victory over Arroyo Grande in the Division I-A playoffs. She also scored 14 in the Seahawks’ 60-52 victory over Coachella Valley.
