In the other Division III semifinal:

La Jolla 66, Madison 60--Second-seeded Madison led by as many as 11 points at the beginning of the fourth quarter at University City, but third-seeded La Jolla outscored the Warhawks, 21-10, in the closing period to ensure the victory.

Matt Baker and Shane Lantz led Madison with 27 and 20 points, respectively, but the Vikings (11-12) were aided by four players who scored in double figures: Ken Kavanagh, E.J. Watson, Ernie Gaytan and Jose Fregoso.

Kavanagh hit a field goal, and Fregoso followed him with two free throws with 19 seconds left to put La Jolla ahead, 64-60. Madison tried to score from three-point range but came up empty handed. La Jolla regained possession, and Kavanagh hit two foul shots to close out the game.
