Huntington Beach High’s alumni volleyball match will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Huntington Beach gym. The match will feature the current team and former Oiler standouts such as Scott Drake, Al Gasparian, Dan Glenn, Steve Lucas, Tom Pestolesi, Matt Taylor and Rocky Ciarelli, the Oilers’ coach.

The Corona del Mar and Laguna Beach girls’ volleyball teams will be among 24 teams competing at the Divers Sports Center Challenge tournament Oct. 2-3 in Manteno, Ill., tournament officials announced Monday.

Mother McAuley High School of suburban Chicago is the defending tournament champion.

“I was three for 14 from the field (in the quarterfinals against Alhambra),” said Airey, whose 127 three-pointers this season surpassed by one the county record he set last season. “That statistic was on my mind a lot during the game.”

The Mission Valley girls’ club volleyball team, with several South Coast League players, won the 18-and-under division Feb. 17 at the Las Vegas Classic.

Mission Valley defeated Team Magnum, 15-8, 15-4, in the finals of the 144-team tournament. Standouts included Tobi Roquemore (Capistrano Valley), Karissa Meith (Irvine), Lesli Steinert (El Toro) and Kira Kneitel (El Toro).
