ROUNDUP : Murray’s Shot Gives Glendora Victory, 55-53

Cameron Murray made a 15-foot jump shot as time expired to lift Glendora to a 55-53 victory over Trabuco Hills in a Southern California Division II Regional semifinal playoff game Thursday night at Cal Poly Pomona.

David Mitchell made a free throw to tie the score, 53-53, with 13 seconds left and Glendora (33-0) regained possession on a turnover with five seconds left.

Murray finished with a game-high 26 points. Gavin Vanderputten had 18 points for Trabuco Hills (26-6), which rallied from a 52-46 deficit to take a 53-52 lead with three minutes to play.

Artesia 56, Del Mar Torrey Pines 46--Charles O’Bannon was the only Artesia player to score in double figures with a game-high 26 points in the Division II game at Torrey Pines.

Artesia (27-4) extended a six-point halftime lead to 45-32 entering the fourth quarter. Peter Bates and Steve Lemery had 13 points each for Torrey Pines (28-4).

Inglewood Morningside 93, Lemoore 74--Morningside opened the third quarter with a 20-4 run in the Division III game at Morningside.

Stais Boseman scored a game-high 23 points and had 11 rebounds and Corey Saffold had 19 points and six rebounds for Morningside (23-6). Stan Arterberry scored 20 points for Leemore (22-8).

The Monarchs led, 42-26, at halftime and never led by more than seven points in the first half.

Santa Clara 64, Gardena Serra 52--Art Barron had 23 points, including 13 in the final quarter, for Santa Clara (27-3), the three-time Southern Califonia regional champion, in a Division IV game at Ventura College.

Barron scored eight consecutive points in the fourth quarter and also made seven of 10 free throws and two three-point baskets during the period.

Santa Clara, which led by six points after three quarters, went on a 10-2 run to begin the fourth and take a 54-39 lead with 4:17 left. Serra got no closer than 12 points thereafter.

Campbell Hall 69, Bel-Air Prep 51--Austin McKellar and C.J. Thompkins had 25 and 12 points for host Campbell Hall in a Division V game at Harvard-Westlake High in North Hollywood.

Campbell Hall trailed, 16-12, after the first quarter but opened the second quarter with a 13-2 run, including two three-point baskets by Thompkins.

Campbell Hall (20-10), the third-place finisher from the Delphic League has outscored its opponents by an average of 22.9 points in seven playoff games.

GIRLS

Sophomore forward Mimi McKinney scored a game-high 23 points to help Peninsula defeat visiting Poway, 75-41, in the Division I semifinal.

Peninsula (31-0) will play Lynwood (28-2), a 58-56 winner over Thousand Oaks, on Saturday night in the regional final at the Sports Arena.

Peninsula center Jeffra Gausepohl, a 6-foot-5 senior finished with 16 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Poway, the San Diego Section champion, finished at 27-4--two of its losses coming against Peninsula.

Santa Ynez 53, San Diego Lincoln Prep 44--Visiting Santa Ynez (25-3) overcame a five-point first quarter deficit and limited Lincoln Prep (21-4) to six and five points in the second and third quarters of the Division IV game.

Kaci Scoggin scored 12 points and Amy Gillingham (seven rebounds) and Erin Alexander had 10 each for Santa Ynez. Lincoln Prep’s Shondel Robinson led all scorers with 20 points.

Morro Bay 46, Woodlake 38--Sara Pierce scored a game-high 28 points and made four consecutive free throws in the last 39 seconds to help host Morro Bay (25-3) overcome a 36-32 deficit with four minutes to play in the Division IV game.
