Not Everyone Happy With New Nickname

The Tank McNamara strip in the sports section of March 3 neatly satirized what I’ve been thinking about the current flap about names of athletic teams. It’s hard for me to understand why any ethnic group should be angered about having a sports team named for them in some way. Our athletes have traditionally been our strongest and most daring young men (well, most of them) and to me it seems an honor to name a team something like the Braves--indicating a pride in their prowess.
